Account backup & recovery (iOS)

No matter which operating system you use, your Hoccer account and contents are never automatically backed up and only saved on your phone’s memory. If you lose your device or buy a new one, your account data as well as your chat history can only be restored with an import of your backup file.

Why do I have to backup my Hoccer account?

Your log-in data (credentials)

  • We do not ask for any sensitive data, e.g. your telephone number or e-mail address, nor do we store any of your personal information on our server. To log in, a user needs an ID and the associated password. The automatically generated password is safely and solely stored on your phone’s memory.

Your messages and chat histories

  • Besides your account data, also your messages are solely saved on your phone. Once a message is successfully transferred by the server, it’s deleted for good and therefore only available in your and your chat partner’s chat history.

What has to be saved and backed-up?

What information is needed to recover your Hoccer account?

  • Your log in data (credentials) needs to be saved once only on an external storage
  • A backup of your Hoccer messages needs to be regularly saved
  • Both, your credentials as well as your messages can be backed up by using the iTunes backup
